love supreme

I was listening to Robbie Williams song Supreme, and found his lyrics poignant and rather evocative.  I have quite a few favourite lines in this song that blow me away, but I think this one below I rather enjoy for some reason.

All the lonely hearts in London caught a plane and flew away.

All the best women are married
All the handsome men are gay
You feel deprived.

Are there bags under your eyes?

Are you getting on a bit?
Do you survive?
Is there a tumour in your humour?

What are you really looking for?
Another partner in your life to abuse and to adore?

Turn down the love songs that you hear
You can't avoid the sentiment
That echoes in your ear

Looking for a love supreme.

1+2 Studio Group show thoughts

We had our group opening show and this was my studio, all decked out like crazy.  Typically, the studio is quiet, and filled with heaps of light and empty.  A lot of visitors loved the monoprints on brown paper, they commented on them quite a lot!  The show this weekend was a great educational experience as an emerging artist and a great way to communicate with people in a rather open and exposing kind of way!

I chose to work on another wood panel while the weekend show was on as people were walking past.  The houses in the background were something I wanted to emulate from my travels in Europe.  And bikes - who doesn't love bikes?

This is the latest canvas i'm currently working on.  It is my newest love, at least for now.

1+2 studios Open weekend 27-28 Oct 2012

So next weekend is the open studio weekend for 1+2 studios at rozelle.  Apparently it's meant to be a good turnout, but i have no idea.  The front door is now adorned with a studio photo we took a week ago with the theme 47 shades of grey.  A pun on the erotic novel.

Started working on wood panel.  Not sure how i feel about the work in progress.  The work resting on the side i've decided is not for sale.

Another wood panel work.  Barcelona houses, prostitutes, working girls.

studio memories

This is a picture of my studio.  The mural I'm currently working on the floor is now on my wall.  I love my studio - it always feels really refreshing to be amongst other artists and being inspired in that environment.  It's quiet and in a few weeks it will be open to the public.  Too thrilled.

Flesh and Moan

----

'Nothing here but flesh and moan', George Michael.

---------
So goes one of my favourite lines from a George Michael song.  And apparently, a line that fits appropriately for an upcoming art exhibition I'm in.

Last week I was told that the theme for our studio's annual exhibition will be based on the book Fifty Shades of Grey.  Just to clarify, most of the people participating in the studio exhibition are well and truly over fifty and female.  It's hard to imagine a number of ladies all around my mum's age deciding that the exhibition's theme should be based on an erotic novel that features S&M, but there it is.  I'm still uncertain how they came to that decision, but like most things in life I find myself happy for it to remain a mystery.  Although the speculation is rather fun.

The mind boggles.

My neighbouring artist, a plucky lady my own mum's age piped up one afternoon and suggested that we tie fluffy handcuffs to the entrance door.  I'm not sure if she was joking, but i quite liked the idea myself.

How I love being an artist.
